Blacksheep. It’s where you are. It’s what you’re looking at. The pictures you see here are the works of four individuals, distinct from their native flocks, coming together as a collective to showcase their idiosyncratic styles, unified in purpose by that which makes them stand apart.
We held a photography exhibition at Blacksheep Bar Newtown on Nov 2016 to Jan 2017 and our photos are still available. Drop us a line if you like what you see. Or you can head over to each artist and photo below to claim your piece of it.
The photos are a natural extension of me. A lot of these shots are street based, or things that I encounter during the course of the day - which usually means around Sydney's inner west. And all of these are when I'm in the moment. I get quite a buzz when that happens.
I'm open to collaboration - just reach out.
Photography is a mindfulness practice for me. My camera (and more often, my iPhone) is tool that allows me to remain focused on the present and to see splendour in the fleeting moments. These pictures were all captured in the course of ordinary days containing extraordinary beauty.
I like the idea of silence in my images, something we have felt but have left unsaid. But how do I express this silence in an image or collection of images? Is it a sign or a floating signifier? Is it a concern? A theme? Is it a figure or symbol?
For me it’s not the presence but rather the absence, a space for the viewer.
